The official name of our first campaign to achieve basic rules and regulations which govern our wages benefits and working conditions as it relates to employment at Morgan State University
After 200 years of poverty oppression intimidation and uncertainty we began a journey to raises rights and respect.
Employees at Morgan State University were constantly threatened with being fired, demoted laid off and punished by management without just cause.
We were treated like second class citizens and disrespected by management on a daily basis, partly because of our ignorance concerning leave, overtime, comp time, vacation and many other legal entitlements.

Our union membership began a series of actions that included signing letters, Email campaigns, leafleting on the corners, march on Human Resources Office, marches on the President's Office, protesting at the Board of Regents meetings, and Lobbying in Annapolis.
We intensified our activities by protesting at the State House in Annapolis, Protesting at the Presidential debates, holding town hall meetings, taking out full-page Ads in local newspapers and filing lawsuits.

All these tactics put our message in the local state and national spotlight which In the end proved to be effective enough to win a historic first contract for Morgan State University employees in 2002,

armed with a collective bargaining agreement we began the next phase of the revolution, filing and winning individual grievances in the courtroom, building political power in Baltimore and Annapolis and growing our union.

Our efforts have resulted in increasing our salary cap from $42,000 in 2002 to $96,000 by 2018our proudest moment came recently when as a result of our efforts our contract guarantees the conversion of more than 250 contractual employees into regular state pinned positions with full benefits.With each battle the goals of raises rights and respect for working families at MORGAN STATE UNIVERSITY is advanced as the picture becomes clear we march together GROWING THE FUTURE LEADING THE WORLD
